Nancy J. Johnson
Suffering from severe pain in both knees and being unable to do my normal daily activities, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. W. Moore. Dr. Moore had performed successful surgery when my husband broke his hip, caring and checking on him day and night. Then my husband lost a finger in an accident and Dr. Moore being on duty operated again. After Larry's release from the hospital, Dr. Moore set up an appointment in his office the following Monday, a holiday. Dr. Moore later, when returning from a trip, called on his cell phone to follow up on Larry's condition. When thanking him for his caring and dedication Dr. Moore's reply was "I AM A DOCTOR."
Dr. Moore, after diagnosing my problem, operated on me doing bilateral knee replacements. I returned home the 4th day already feeling better. The third week I was walking without the use of walker or cane and participating very actively in my physical therapy. It is wonderful to be able to do my normal household activities, along with a few outside functions without pain...and can look FORWARD to being able to travel again, spend time in the timber and do all the things I was unable to do. Thank you Dr. Moore!! YOU ARE A DOCTOR!!

When I finally had enough of living with ankle pain and it was starting to interfere with my quality of life, I went to
Dr. Eric Arp at Arp Foot and Ankle Clinic to see if he had some answers for me. He started with the least invasive treatments and when that did not work he ordered an MRI which showed that I would need surgery. As reluctant as I was to undergo surgery, it was what I decided to do in order to live without pain. Now I am back at work, going shopping, walking my dogs, and generally enjoying all of the things I did before my surgery. It is a relief to be living without pain in my ankle. Dr. Arp and his friendly staff were very supportive in getting me back on my feet. The weeks of recovery were worth the inconvenience, and now I can look forward to doing all of the things that make life worth living. Thank you, Dr. Arp!

I was working for the Census Bureau and slipped on some gravel and fractured my ankle. After Dr. Win Moore repaired my ankle, I went to Baxter Regional's Active Lifestyle Institute for physical therapy. Because I was not allowed to bear full weight on my ankle, I began rehab in one of BRMC's aquatic therapy pools I quickly regained full function and have resumed an active lifestyle. Without the aquatic therapy pool at Baxter Regional Medical Center and the orthopaedic experts at the Active Lifestyle Institute, my recovery would have taken much longer.

I own an automotive shop in Mountain Home. I was helping unload a transmission from a truck when I slipped and fell. The transmission landed on my left hand, cutting 6 tendons and fracturing a bone. The Emergency department at Baxter Regional recommended Dr. Newman to me and said the he could repair traumatic hand injuries. My experience with Dr. Newman was great. When he told me what all was involved with the surgery, I couldn't believe it. You can barely even tell that I had surgery! Dr. Newman, his wife and staff at Newman, MD Plastic Surgery would even call me from time to time to see how everything was coming along. I am glad to have gotten such a talented doctor to work with. During the course of rehabilitation, I went through occupational therapy with Crystal Henry at BRMC's Physical Therapy Department. Crystal is also a Certified Hand Therapist, and was instrumental to my success. She kept me focused and moving. I have resumed a full life as a local business owner and I am lucky to have had such dedicated and knowledgeable professionals as Dr. Adam Newman, Crystal Henry and all of the orthopaedic experts at the Active Lifestyle Institute.

George suddenly lost his ability to walk because of a severe nerve condition. He began Neurological Rehabilitation Therapy sitting in a wheelchair, and with the help of Renee' Barnes, Physical Therapist, and other experts at Baxter Regional's Active Lifestyle Institute, George is now walking again and regaining his active lifestyle, one step at a time.

Michael Thomas, Harrison
My family physician sent me to Dr. Arp for ingrown toenails. I live in Harrison, but was certainly willing to drive to Mountain Home for quality medical care. A few days before my appointment with Dr. Arp I fell and thought I had torn my Achilles tendon. I went to a local physician who suggested an MRI. He said that if it was torn, he would keep me in a walking boot until it healed on its own. When I walked into Dr. Arp's office he knew immediately what the issue was and he diagnosed my ruptured tendon. He said he didn't need to see an MRI to tell him that it was torn. It was obvious to me that Dr. Arp knew what he was doing. He asked "when are we going to get it fixed?". So I said "when can you do it?", and I was scheduled within a week. It was an outpatient surgery at Baxter Regional Medical Center and everything went like clockwork. My family and I were treated very well. Everything worked out great, I'm just glad I had an ingrown toenail!! I would recommend Dr. Arp for any ankle or foot problem that you might have. What a great doctor! I am grateful to Dr. Eric Arp, his staff and the Active Lifestyle Institute for the great care I received.

About 2 months ago I fell almost 15 feet and injured my back. My family physician referred me to Dr. Matt Wilson and he quickly realized that I had two spinal fractures.
On a scale of 1 to 10, my pain was a 91/2. Dr. Wilson admitted me to Baxter Regional Medical Center about
8:00 one morning and performed his procedures about
two hours later. When I got back to my hospital room,
my pain was almost non-existent. I had no idea that
this amount of pain could be erased in such a short time!! What little pain that remained went away in less than a week! I am thankful that I do not need to take any pain medication. I stayed one night in the hospital and went home the next morning. I would recommend anyone that suffers from back pain to go see Dr. Matt Wilson. The nurses at Baxter Regional Medical Center are just great!

I was a tennis player/coach until my left hip began
hurting so much that I sought medical attention. I saw
Dr. Win Moore at BRMC's Bone and Joint Clinic and after
x-rays it was decided that the hip would need a full replacement. The head of the femur was flattening out and I had quite a limp. We set a surgery date and Dr. Moore took the time to correct the length of my leg and to get the implants to fit my body exactly. His time and attention to detail allowed me to have my legs the same length, thus I can walk without a limp. Roughly 48 hours after my left hip replacement I walked out of the hospital and on my way to a better life. A life where I can walk
like a normal person and not hurt or limp. I had hardly
any pain. I never had to take any pain pills when I went home and started physical therapy after just 2 weeks.
Dr. Moore, his staff, and the Active Lifestyle Institute staff at BRMC were great, especially the nurses on the 5th floor - even more specific the nurses on the night shifts were awesome!! Thanks to all!
James Hawkins
Golfing was right at the top of my " to do" list when I retired from working for the City of West Plains, patient James Hawkins affirmed recently. "But, the pain in my knee was keeping me from doing what I love," said Hawkins. All of that changed when Dr. Win Moore did a total knee replacement in September of 2008. "Dr. Moore is a wonderful doctor and thanks to the surgery I was able to do what I love best, play golf all summer long," Hawkins said. "I'm still exercising and have visits with the doctor every six months but I'm back to enjoying my grandchildren, traveling short distances with my wife and all of the things I've missed."
Fay Butterfield
After surviving breast cancer, Fay Butterfield developed swelling in her arm. She didn't know where to turn until she was referred to Baxter Regional's Physical Therapy Clinic, where she met Jason Smith, Physical Therapist. Jason is also a certified lymphedema therapist; along with his colleagues, Renee' Barnes, Arlette Michalak and Tammy Burlsworth. Together, they taught Faye how to control her lymphedema. She is now independent and has returned to a healthy, active lifestyle.

I began having pain in my right hip when I stood from a sitting position. When the pain became intense and almost constant, I went to Knox Orthopaedics for help. Dr. Knox's initial treatment was conservative, consisting of medication, injections and therapy. It became clear that a total hip replacement was necessary. I have had successful results from the surgery and have been pain free since the day of surgery. I received excellent post-op care at home by BRMC Home Health nurses and therapists. After a month of therapy I returned to normal activity, thanks to orthopaedic experts like Dr. Tom Knox, his staff and the Active Lifestyle Institute at Baxter Regional Medical Center.

Unlike other family members who had back surgery, I chose to stay close to home for my much-needed lumbar spine decompression and fusion! Dr. Terry Green of General Orthopaedics has a wonderful reputation, and I enjoyed a really rapid recovery, with everything from home health to physical therapy to vitamins, arranged for me by Dr. Green. And I was right here at home for my kids! I recommend Dr. Green and the Active Lifestyle Institute to everyone who needs orthopaedic surgery!
